Two Mystery Fox/Marvel Films Announced As 'Gambit' Is Pulled From Schedule

Every time the subject of Fox's Gambit film with Channing Tatum is brought up, we make sure to mention that it's probably never going to hit its target October 2016 date. There have been too many problems for it to happen. Rupert Wyatt abruptly left the project, and it took some time for a new director to be found in Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow). Plus, there hasn't been much casting beyond Tatum and co-star Lea Seydoux.

And now it looks like Fox has finally made the move we were all expecting and pulled Gambit from the schedule, meaning it may not arrive until 2017 or possibly even 2018. It may depend less on working out everyone's calendar and more on figuring out the future of the X-Men franchise as Fox also revealed two mystery dates for Marvel projects. The first will arrive on October 6th 2017, and the second on January 12th 2018.  Chances are the first one is where Gambit will be slotted, but that's not confirmed yet. Is it safe to assume that one of these will be the New Mutants film Josh Boone (The Fault In Our Stars) is working on? Or maybe even the forever-rumored X-Force film with Jeff Wadlow?

20th Century Fox kept shuffling the decks by moving around more of their top upcoming films. Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant has been bumped to August 4th 2017, while Shane Black's Predator sequel arrives on March 2nd 2018. Romance The Mountain Between Us starring Idris Elba has been completely removed from the linup for now, while Tim Burton's Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children  arrives September 30, 2016.
