'Suspiria' Remake Could Star Tilda Swinton And Dakota Johnson
A remake of Dario Argento's Suspiria has been in the works for some time, previously by David Gordon Green, and currently by Luca Guadagnino, director of I Am Love and A Bigger Splash. If plans had worked out Guadagnino would be filming it right now; that never happened, but the director still has designs on getting it done and he wants to bring a pair of familiar faces along for the ride.
Guadagnino revealed at a recent Q&A [via ThePlaylist] that he hopes Suspiria will reunite him with Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson, both stars of his vacation romance A Bigger Splash. His version of Argento's classic Italian horror will be set in 1977 and assuming the plot remains the same, would center on a ballet student who discovers that the prestigious dance academy she attends is actually a front for something sinister and supernatural.
As for when Guadagnino could finally roll on the film, it may be a while. Johnson is in the middle of filming Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, which will be shot back-to-back.
