The Cannes Film Festival is the big daddy festival of them all, and this year's lineup isn't going to do anything to change that perception. The newly-released slate includes some of the year's most anticipated dramas from today's top auteurs, along with a few films that are expected to be crowd-pleasers upon hitting theaters. Among the top selections are Oliver Assayas' Personal Shopper, reuniting him with his Clouds of Sils Maria star, Kristen Stewart. Woody Allen will bring his starry comedy, Café Society, which pairs Stewart with Jesse Eisenberg. Nicolas Winding Refn's celebrity horror The Neon Demon (trailer for that one here) will be present, along with Jeff Nichols' interracial drama, Loving, starring Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga.
What else? The out-of-competition slate is impressive with Steven Spielberg's kid-friendly The BFG, Shane Black's The Nice Guys with Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, and Jodie Foster's Money Monster with George Clooney and Julia Roberts. And if that wasn't enough, you'll also find Andrea Arnold's American Honey, Park Chan-Wook's The Handmaiden, Sean Penn's The Last Face, and Jim Jarmusch's Paterson starring Adam Driver.
