'Deadpool' Sequel Will Bring Back Director Tim Miller

Not that there was ever any real doubt, but 20th Century Fox has confirmed at CinemaCon that Tim Miller will be back to direct its Deadpool sequel. This solidifies the return of the entire creative team from the first film, including screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and star Ryan Reynolds, who helped turn it into the highest grossing R-rated movie of all-time with $757M and counting.

It's still a little early for plot points, although with CinemaCon going on a few tidbits could drop. Most expect the sequel to include the futuristic X-Man known as Cable, and possibly his mercenary pal, Domino. Nor do we really know if the film will tie closer to Fox's X-Men universe as a whole. They did a pretty good dabbling in that expanded world last time through Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, so it stands to reason there will be at least some connection.

Production on Deadpool 2 should begin this fall, and while Fox has some release dates wide open, there is no firm date set just yet.
