We still don't know a lot about Darren Aronofsky's next film, but one thing for sure is that he's putting together one Hell of a cast. Already set to star Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem, THR reports it will now include Domhnall Gleeson and Michelle Pfeiffer, with Ed Harris and Domhnall's brother Brian in talks for roles.
Aronofsky will direct and write the script for what sounds like a Funny Games-type story centering "on a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence." Then again, assuming anything when it comes to Aronofsky is probably not a smart idea, either. Black Swan was about more than just a ballet dancer, right? Filming is set to begin this June for release in 2017.
Meanwhile, Gleeson is also eyeing a role as Winnie the Pooh creator A.A. Milne in Goodbye Christopher Robin. Written and directed by Simon Curtis, the story centers on Milne's relationship with his son, Robin, who was the inspiration for the Christopher Robin character in the Winnie the Pooh stories. Pooh was named after Robin's favorite teddy bear, while many of the 100 Acre Wood characters were named after his other toys.
Gleeson had an incredibly busy 2015 and he's shaping up to be even busier this year. He's also agreed to play National Lampoon co-founder in Netflix's A Future & Stupid Gesture, as well as reteam with Frank director Lenny Abrahamson for an adaptation of Sarah Waters’ novel The Little Stranger. Meanwhile, he's currently shooting Star Wars: Episode VIII, reprising his role as General Hux.
