So how do you like your superhero movies? The shiny, upbeat Marvel way? Or the grim version currently favored by Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder? It seems that most think Marvel's way is superior, based on nearly a decade of making movies that are all fairly similar in tone, while the DCU's approach is generally considered less successful...after only two movies and about $1.5B grossed between them. And if that gritter style isn't to your liking, well, then it sounds like Wonder Woman isn't going to be for you, either.
Speaking with Digital Spy, Gal Gadot says the Amazonian hero's upcoming movie won't exactly be a fun time at the rodeo...
"In 'Batman v Superman,' you get a glimpse of who she is but not where she comes from. In 'Wonder Woman,' this would be the first time we ever tell the coming-of-age story of how Diana becomes Wonder Woman. It's very interesting. It has moments of humor, but it's pretty dark."
Just how dark? She elaborate, but does go on to talk about how different the Wonder Woman seen in 'Batman v Superman' is from the one in the solo film.
"We all saw before the beautiful coming of age of Batman, Spider-Man, Superman. We don't know anything about Wonder Woman. We go back 100 years to when she's more naïve. She's this young idealist. She's pure. Very different to the experienced, super-confident, grown-up woman you've seen."
That makes sense given the many years and likely hundreds of battles she will have waged between the two time periods. Unfortunately it doesn't sound like we'll be getting any invisible jets this time around.
