Michelle Williams Joins Todd Haynes' 'Wonderstruck' Alongside Julianne Moore
Where has Michelle Williams been lately? For a while there it seemed like she was everywhere, and an Oscars favorite each year. But after 2013's Oz the Great and Powerful she hasn't done much. Fortunately for us, 2016 is seeing her come back in a big way. Not only does she have Kenneth Lonergan's excellent (and likely Oscar-worthy) Manchester by the Sea, and Kelly Reichardt's Certain Women, but now she's joining the latest film from Todd Haynes.
According to Variety, Williams is joining the cast of Wonderstruck, a reunion with Haynes who she worked with on I'm Not There. The film also finds the director reunited with Julianne Moore for an adaptation of Brian Selznick's award-winning book about the connection between Ben and Rose, two deaf children in totally different eras, one in 1977 and the other in 1927. Williams will play Ben's mother.
No word on when this will shoot, but Amazon Studios is behind this one and will release it at some point. As for Williams, she still has the unreleased WWII drama Suite Francais, which should have hit stateside by now but seems to be in limbo.
