Check Out Trump's America In 'The Purge: Election Year' Trailer

The timing of The Purge: Election Year couldn't be better. Not only are we in the middle of the Presidential Primaries right now, but there's a certain think-skinned, small-handed, badly-haired candidate out there who, if elected, could bring about the kind of murderous chaos seen in the surprising hit franchise. Let's hope that doesn't happen, but if it does then you can be ready for it by checking out this new trailer.

While The Purge may have begun as a home invasion flick, they're actually political thrillers more than anything else, serving as an allegory for the wealth disparity and corruption of our current economic system. Frank Grillo is back and this time he's put in charge of protecting a Senator with hopes of ending the annual Purge once and for all. The Purge allows people twentyfour hours to commit any violent acts without fear of repercussion, but it's been used as a means of eliminating the poor, the homeless, the ones the government deems useless or dangerous.  I don't care much for horror movies but The Purge has quickly become one I look forward to. If this is the end then let's hope it goes out with a bang.

Once again written and directed by James DeMonaco with Elizabeth Mitchell, Edwin Hodge, and Mykelti Williamson co-starring, The Purge: Election Year opens July 1st.
