Tom Hooper To Direct A Film Version Of 'Cats'

Just because Tom Hooper was able to successfully bring Les Miserables to the big screen does that mean he can do the same with classic Broadway musical, Cats? We're about to find out as Andrew Lloyd Weber's feline stage play is next on the director's list.

Details are few on Hooper's approach to the adaptation, but Variety says the project is being backed by Universal and Working Title. No doubt they hope Hooper, who will also serve as a producer, can find the same critical acclaim he received for The King's Speech, Les Miserables, and The Danish Girl. No word on who will pen the screenplay about a trible of kitties known as The Jellicles.

Probably the biggest hurdle will be finding stars willing to sing and dance while made to look like a furry feline. Suki Waterhouse (Pride & Prejudice & Zombies) could be tops on Hooper's list according to an earlier story at The Sun, but we'll find out soon if that's true or just a bunch of kitty litter.
