AMC Renews ‘Preacher’ For a Second Season

Good new Preacher fans!

I looks like AMC has renewed the supernatural comic book adaptation for a second season.  There was some concern due to the show being overshadowed by Game of Thrones during its inaugural season, but the show managed to gain an average of 3.3 million viewers per episode in Nielsen live plus 3 ratings.  As a result, AMC has decided to renew the show for a second season.

Charlie Collier, president of AMC is more than please to renew the show:
Preacher is a special television program and we’re eager to share with fans the rest of this wild first season and, now, an expanded second season.  What Sam, Seth, Evan and the entire creative team have achieved in bringing Garth Ennis’ graphic novel to the screen is extraordinary. We look forward to more time with these unforgettable characters be it in Heaven, Hell, Texas or beyond.

The show is currently halfway through the first season’s 10 episode run, and the second season will bump up to thirteen episodes surrounding preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) as he inherits supernatural powers of Genesis.   The show was developed by executive producers Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen and Sam Catlin.  The head writer and showrunner is Catlin.  Cast includes Cooper, Ruth Negga, and Joseph Gilgun.

Preacher broadcasts Sundays at 9:00 PM on AMC. [Variety]
