Tom Hanks To The Rescue In First Trailer For Clint Eastwood's 'Sully'

There was no way Clint Eastwood's Sully would look like anything other than the polar opposite of Flight. In that film Denzel Washington played a hero pilot who saved the day but turned out to be a total scumbag. However, Sully, which stars Tom Hanks as Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, is about the real deal; a pilot who lived up to all of the accolades thrown his way. If anybody deserves a movie about himself it's Sully, and now the first trailer for it has safely landed.

Directed by Eastwood, Sully stars Hanks as the heroic pilot who in 2009 saved passengers aboard US Airways Flight 1549 after it hit a flock of seagulls. Using his skills he managed to safely land the plane on the Hudson River, with the event coming to be known as the "Miracle On the Hudson". The trailer teases the events of that day but also everything Sully went through afterwards when accusations began flying, no pun intended. In real life Sully had his pension cut and became an advocate for aviation safety, a fact which did not endear him to some in his chosen field.

Also starring Laura Linney and Aaron Eckhart, Sully takes off on September 9th, so get ready Oscars voters.
