Cate Blanchett May Join Female 'Ocean's Eleven' With Sandra Bullock
If there's anything Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's Eleven movies are known for, it's the tremendous star power. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Julia Roberts, Carl Reiner, Casey Affleck, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. So obviously the all-female version revealed last year would have to bring the big guns as well, right? With Sandra Bullock already attached to star in the ensemble heist flick, and Jennifer Lawrence rumored for a key role, the latest news puts Cate Blanchett in the mix, as well.
ThePlaylist has the news, reporting Blanchett is "circling" what would basically be the equivalent to the Brad Pitt role. They also say the film will only have eight main criminals rather than eleven, hence it being referred to as "Ocean's Ocho" by the creative minds putting this together. No word on who could fill the other spots in the group, but expect them to be some pretty big names, plus one or two rising stars. Hey, that's how the original played out, right?
Gary Ross is directing, and while he and Lawrence are always looking for a chance to work together she may have a scheduling conflict that prevents it. Hopefully she can shuffle some things around because who doesn't want to see the trio of Bullock, Lawrence, and Blanchett robbing the Met Ball blind? Speaking of those who may not be involved, Clooney's cameo as Danny Ocean has been cut from the plan for now, but if the film sparks a franchise don't be surprised if he shows up. Boys vs. girls crossover, maybe?
