It only makes sense that a Transformers movie titled 'The Last Knight' should have an actual knight in it, and no I don't mean Optimus Prime. Screen veteran Anthony Hopkins is joining the film's cast, and it won't be merely a voice role. He'll be playing an actual on-screen character, so don't be surprised if he ends up behind the wheel of Bumblebee or something.
Hopkins joins the returning Mark Wahlberg as Cade Yeager and Josh Duhamel as William Lennox, plus fellow new additions Isabela Moner and Jerrod Carmichael. The franchise made the announcement on their various social media outlets, including Twitter...
The man, the myth, the legend – help us welcome Sir Anthony Hopkins to the #transformers universe. pic.twitter.com/PfkTuWZHD9— #TRANSFORMERS (@transformers) June 3, 2016
Hopkins may be a screen legend known for his dramatic roles, but he's as prone to chewing up scenery as anybody. That's pretty much all he does in Marvel's Thor movies, and chances are it's what he'll be called on to do here. Wasn't he in the Red sequel? Yeah, if he can do that he'll do pretty much anything. So if you were ever hit with a burning desire to see Hannibal Lecter and Optimus Prime in the same place, you'll get the chance when Transformers: The Last Knight opens June 23rd 2017.
