Back when Cary Fukunaga was attached to direct New Line's remake of Stephen King's It, the iconic role of Pennywise was to be played by Will Poulter. But when Fukunaga dropped out and production was delayed, that screwed everything up and Poulter left, too. The film was revitalized when Andy Muschietti (Mama) came in to replace Fukunaga, and now the cast has been filled by young stars, including someone to play the evil clown with the nightmarish teeth.
Swedish actor Bill Skarsgard (Hemlock Grove), the son of Stellan (Thor) and brother of Alexander (True Blood) has been cast as Pennywise in the horror adaptation. Not onlly that, but Midnight Special and St. Vincent star Jaeden Lieberher will play one of the protagonists in the "Losers Club", a group of misfits who defeat the murderous entity, only for it to return years later when they are adults. Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor are also in final talks to join the cast.
The film will be broken up into two parts, the first following the kids' story, the second when they are grown up. This will be Skarsgard's biggest film role yet in America, although he did have a role in The Divergent Series: Allegiant and will reprise it in Ascendant. [THR]
