Ben Stiller To Star In Mike White's Comedy, 'Brad's Status'

If the name Mike White is at all familiar to you it's probably because of his work as a screenwriter on films such as School of Rock, Freaks and Geeks, Orange County, HBO's Enlightened, and Jennifer Aniston's dramatic breakthrough in The Good Girl. In some of those projects he's crossed paths with Ben Stiller, who came up around the same time and runs in many of the same comedic circles. Well now they're set to officially team-up for the first time in the comedy, Brad's Status.

Stiller is set to star in the film which White will direct from his own screenplay about a man "who despite a good career and happy family, is obsessed with the better fortunes of his old friends from school. While escorting his son on an East Coast tour of colleges, Brad is forced to confront his friends and his feelings of failure – with hilarious and poignant results."

This sounds like the perfect vehicle for Stiller and touches on some of the same themes as The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which most hated but I thought was enjoyable enough. The plan is to begin filming in September. [Variety]
