Could it be that fiery chain teased for Agents of SHIELD's fourth season actually does belong to Ghost Rider? Or at least a very specific version of the Spirit of Vengeance? About a week ago an image of the flaming weapon suggested one of two things: either Ghost Rider was on the way or it could mean a larger role for Axle Whitehead who plays the Inhuman known as Hellfire.
Well now TV Line has a casting update that says Marvel is looking to introduce two Latino brothers, and they sound an awful lot like the most recent Ghost Rider, Robbie Reyes, and his wheelchair-bound brother, Gabe...
"Also to be introduced in Season 4: a pair of Latino brothers, one of whom is always the most dangerous person in the room, the other paralyzed in a wheelchair."
Robbie and Gabe were introduced in 2013 by writer/artist Felipe Smith and artist Tradd Moore. Robbie is a talented Mexican-American mechanic living in East Los Angeles alongside his disabled brother, Gabe, and works to get them both out of the gang-riddled streets. When Gabe is gunned down by gangs during a street race, he is revived as Ghost Rider the Spirit of Vengeance, equipped with a flaming Dodge muscle car instead of a motorcycle.
It would be one heck of a coincidence for it not to be them appearing on Agents of SHIELD, but we'll likely find out more at Comic-Con later this month. The site also notes that LMD, aka Life Model Decoys, will be part of the fourth season, and that a hot actress is being sought to voice AIDA, the "very attractive" female robot belonging to scientist Holden Radcliffe (John Hammond) and will be a recurring character. Fans of the comic book Squadron Supreme will recognize AIDA as the sentient computer belonging to superhero Tom Thumb.
If all of this pans out it would leave Marvel free to use the more recognizable versions of Ghost Rider for a Netflix series, or perhaps a return to the big screen. We shall see!
Agents of SHIELD returns to ABC on September 20th.
