Zach Braff Goes The Dark Comedy Route With 'Bump'
While films such as Garden State and the crowd-funded (to an annoying degree) Wish I Was Here have made Zach Braff as many fans as enemies, at least he's attempting to branch out and try something new. His remake of the crime caper Going in Style opens next year, and that one stars Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Alan Arkin. And now he's going to go the dark comedy route with Bump.
Deadline has the news that Braff will direct Bump, based on a script by Ori Guendelman and Rob McClelland that was on last year's Black List. The story (via Variety) "focuses on the aftermath of an accidental hit-and-run as a young lawyer’s entire life unravels over the span of one night as he attempts to dispose of a corpse that turns out to be much more than an innocent victim."
Braff tends to take roles in his personal projects and stay behind the camera for others. So we may not see him star in this one, although it sounds like the type of character he could take on pretty easily.
