Wait a sec, wasn't Oscar Isaac just in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and X-Men: Apocalypse? As part of those two mega franchises how in the world does he have time to take on as much as he's agreed to? Well, however he does it (cloning??) there's apparently time to add one more major project to his list, and this next one will find him working directly with Steven Spielberg.
Variety reports Isaac has joined Spielberg's potential awards contender, The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara. Oscar winner and Steven Spielberg's new best friend Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies, The BFG) is already attached to the film which takes place in 1858 Bologna, where six-year-old Italian Jew Edgarto Mortara is abducted by the church police and taken to Rome to be raised Catholic, eventually becoming a priest. Rylance plays Pope Piux IX while Isaac's role is unclear at this point. The whole thing is based on the real-life scandal that rocked Europe and the U.S.
The film will be penned by Tony Kushner (Lincoln) and should get rolling early next year after Spielberg completes Ready Player One. Isaac will be plenty busy anyway, with Alex Garland's Annihilation, George Clooney's Suburbicon, and Terry George's The Promise.
