Jerry Lewis Is Back In First Trailer For Indie 'Max Rose'

Man, it's been a while since comic legend Jerry Lewis' return to features with Max Rose; three years to be exact. The film was shown in preliminary form at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival and didn't re-emerge until a few months ago at a special screening in honor of the comedian. But it's finally getting an actual release this fall, and the first trailer has arrived that shows Lewis in purely dramatic form.

Lewis plays elderly, fragile jazz musician Max Rose, who learns after 50 years that his recently-deceased wife may have been having an affair. As he copes with the reality of her unfaithfulness, he must also look back at the career he set aside for the sake of his marriage. The film is written and directed by Daniel Noah, who based the Rose character on his own grandfather.

Also starring Kerry Bishé, Illeana Douglas, Dean Stockwell, Kevin Pollak, and Fred Willard, Max Rose opens in New York on September 2nd.
