Kathryn Bigelow's Detroit Riots Ensemble Adds Will Poulter And Jack Reynor
Kathryn Bigelow's (Zero Dark Thirty) latest hot-button drama won't depict war on the battlefield, or the war on terror, but war in the streets of Detroit. Her next collaboration with Oscar-winning screenwriter Mark Boal is a film based on the 1967 Detroit riots, and she's added three big names to join the previously-cast John Boyega and Hannah Murray.
Will Poulter (The Revenant), Jack Reynor (Sing Street), and Ben O'Toole (Hacksaw Ridge) have boarded Bigelow's still untitled film which covers the racially-charged 5-day riots that broke out after cops raided an unlicensed bar. Out of the ensemble Bigelow is putting together it's the three latest additions that are expected to have the most screen time.
The film should hit theaters next year as it marks the 50th anniversary of the riots. [Variety]
