'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Adds Michael Chernus As Yet Another Villain

As the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming continues to expand, does it run the risk of being too crowded? In particular there seems to be an abundance of villains, especially now that Michael Chernus, best known for playing Piper Chapman's bro in Orange is the New Black, has been cast as the Tinkerer.

The reporter comes from Deadline, although officially his role is being kept under wraps.  The Tinkerer aka Phineas Mason, is a genius-level intellect with a knack for engineering that he uses to aid Marvel's villains.  It was thought at one time that Logan Marshall-Green would be taking the role but he's apparently on board for another baddie. Michael Keaton is expected to play the main villain, the Vulture, while Bokeem Woodbine is another foe of Tom Holland's Peter Parker.

That's a lot of heels for Spidey to face, and that doesn't count Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson.

Spider-Man: Homecoming opens July 7th 2017.
