Trailer For Daisy Ridley Produced And Narrated Documentary, 'The Eagle Huntress'
For good reason everybody has their eye on what Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Daisy Ridley is doing next. Of course she's got 'Episode VIII' all wrapped up for next year, and she recently agreed to lead the YA franchise, Chaos Walking. Well here's one project she's involved with that you might not have heard of, The Eagle Huntress, a documentary she narrated and served as exec-producer on alongside Morgan Spurlock. The film made a lot of noise at Sundance earlier this year, with Sony Pictures shelling out 7 figures to pick up the Mongolia-set story, and with a release coming up this fall the first trailer is here.
Directed by Otto Bell, the true story of a 13-year-old girl in Mongolia trying to break into the rigidly male world of eagle hunting is right up Ridley's alley, given that her performance as Rey was seen as a big step forward for women in the sci-fi genre. In fact, Bell says [via Deadline] that's exactly the reason why he and Ridley came together on this documentary...
“Like so many other theatergoers around the world, I was blown away by Daisy’s recent portrayal of an empowered female protagonist. I’m thrilled she’ll be bringing that same energy to supporting a real-world heroine who is also on an epic journey to win victory in a far away land.”
Ridley echoed those sentiments, hoping the film will be able to reach and inspire girls the world over...
“I was deeply moved by Aisholpan’s story and wanted to be a part of this beautiful film. I feel audiences and young girls around the world will be as inspired by her story as I was, and I am so proud to share her journey with the world.”
The Eagle Huntress gets a limited run in New York and Los Angeles on October 28th.
