While I'm sad to be missing out on TIFF this year and the numerous Oscar-worthy movies that will be showing at the festival, the one I'm most upset to be missing has no chance at any awards. That would be Headshot, an action flick that should be amazing for two reasons. Not only does it star the awesome Iko Uwais from The Raid, The Raid 2, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but it's directed by badass Indonesian duo the Mo Brothers.
The Mo Brothers (Timo Tjahjanto and Kimo Stamboel) are the same guys behind Killers, which is sort of like the Indonesian version of I Saw the Devil. If you haven't seen it, rectify that immediately. Based on this trailer, Headshot appears to be a twist on the Jason Bourne formula with Uwais playing an amnesiac who falls in love with his caregiver, only to learn he's an unstoppable killing machine. And the killing happens frequently and brutally based on this footage, which includes a number of supporting players from both The Raid and Killers, making it an instant must-see.
Selfishly I hope this hangs around the festival circuit long enough to be at next year's Sundance so I can see it there. Check out the trailer blow.
