New Trailer For 'Max Steel' Is Power Rangers Meets Iron Man

There may be an audience out there itching for a Max Steel movie, but if so they are keeping very quiet about it. Last week an international trailer for the Mattel toy adaptation hit and it was pretty terrible. Unsurprisingly there has been little chatter about it, none positive anyway, but maybe that will change with the new domestic version which is admittedly much better.

And yet it still looks like the cursed spawn of the new Power Rangers and Iron Man. 22-year-old Ben Winchell plays teenager Max McGrath, who somehow gains an alien sidekick named Steel. The two combine to form the crime-fighting hero Max Steel (ingenious!!!) while hoping not to be confused with an extra from Tron. Pretty sure that's the plot. Here's the synopsis just in case I'm wrong:

Based on a toy and animated series, the film chronicles the adventures of 16-year old Max McGrath (Winchell) and alien companion Steel, who must harness and combine their tremendous new powers to evolve into the turbo-charged superhero Max Steel. As these two unlikely friends struggle to accept their oddly connected fates, they begin to uncover unimaginable secrets, working together to find the truth, and fighting the mysterious forces threatening their world.

Also starring Andy Garcia and Maria Bello, Max Steel opens October 21st.
