Rebecca Ferguson Joins 'The Greatest Showman On Earth' With Hugh Jackman

It's been seven long years since Hugh Jackman first boarded the P.T. Barnum musical biopic, The Greatest Showman on Earth. Geez, it was one of the first stories we ever wrote about here. So it's been a little while but the film is finally coming together with Michael Gracey directing and co-stars Zac Efron, Zendaya, Michelle Williams, and now Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation's Rebecca Ferguson.

The red-hot Ferguson will play Swedish opera singer Jenny Lind, known as the "Swedish Nightingale" for her soothing voice. Barnum had something of an obsession with her, and invited her to the U.S. in 1850 to become part of his traveling roadshow. She performed 93 large-scale concerts for him and donated her earning to various charities.

It's another big role for Ferguson, who is set to star alongside Emily Blunt in the anticipated thriller, The Girl On the Train. Filming on The Greatest Showman on Earth begins soon for release next year on Christmas Day. [Variety]
