Sarah Paulson And Mark Duplass Rekindle An Old Flame In The 'Blue Jay' Trailer
When a final accounting of my favorites is done at the end of the year, it's more likely the top film is going to look more like Blue Jay than say, Doctor Strange. Starring newly-crowned Emmy winner Sarah Paulson (The People vs. O.J.Simpson) and the ubiquitous Mark Duplass (Safety Not Guaranteed), the black & white indie has a simple premise that promises big human drama. The charming duo play former high school sweethearts suddenly reunited out of nowhere, sparking old feelings both thought had been left behind.
The film is directed by Alex Lehmann in his debut feature, working from a script by Duplass himself. Honestly I'm surprised he didn't cast his wife, the equally-terrific Katie Aselton. But Paulson is a welcome choice, and that there's a definite Before Sunrise vibe going on makes this all the more appealing.
Blue Jay opens in limited release on October 7th, followed by a VOD run beginning October 11th.
