Ben Affleck Reveals The Title Of His Batman Movie, Which We Already Knew
Ever since Ben Affleck's solo Batman movie was just a rumor making its way around the Internet we've had an inkling what it would be titled. But nothing is actually official until somebody at Warner Bros. says it is, and while this latest news comes from Affleck himself it comes with the caveat that things could still change if he sees fit.
Speaking with the AP about his upcoming role in The Accountant, Affleck says the Batman movie he's directing is titled The Batman....at least for now. This is exactly what we've suspected it would be called in the first place.
“The movie I think is gonna be called ‘The Batman. At least that’s what we’re going with now. I might change it. I think that’s about it, that’s all I got. We’re working on the script, the script is going well, I’m really excited about it. I assure you when anything develops you’ll hear about it.”
The first appearance by the dark knight in Detective Comics #27 way back in 1939 was referred to as "The Batman". It suggests some kind of origin story but that's probably not what we're going to get. Rumors have been going around that Affleck's movie may be set completely within Arkham Asylum where many of Gotham's most notorious criminals are housed.
J.K. Simmons will have a role in the film as Commissioner Jim Gordon, along with Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke. They'll be seen alongside Affleck first in Justice League, which opens November 17th 2017. Deathstroke's appearance in that film was recently teased again by Zack Snyder.
