Sophia Coppola's 'The Beguiled' Adds 'The Nice Guys' Breakout Angourie Rice
It's unfortunate that more people didn't turn out for Shane Black's The Nice Guys, unquestionably one of the funniest movies of the year. Not only was it hilarious but all of the top performances were strong, and that includes young Angourie Rice who constantly stole scenes from Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. She quickly went on to land a part in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and now the actress has scored what should be another amazing gig.
Rice will join the impressive cast of Sophia Coppola's remake of The Beguiled, based on Clint Eastwood's 1971 movie. Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Colin Farrell, and Elle Fanning feature in the story of an injured Union soldier taken to a Southern all-girls' academy where he takes advantage of the sexually repressed women. Rice will play one of the school's residents swayed by the soldier's charms.
Coppola is generally pretty speedy so Focus Features could have this ready by next year's awards race. [THR]
