When Hugh Jackman stars in the third Wolverine movie, newly-titled Logan, it will be his ninth and final time as the X-Man. Sad day for all. However he may not be the only one whose time in the world of super-powered mutants is drawing to a close. Patrick Stewart has previously said this could be "the end of this franchise" for him, and if that's the case then Xavier is going out looking pretty rough.
Jackman and director James Mangold have revealed the first image of Stewart as an aged Xavier in the film. Look, the professor is old even while the X-Men were at their prime, so that he's alive at all is a testament to his resiliency.

The story will take place some time in the future when Logan is much older, racked with pain from a diminished healing factor, and no longer the warrior he once was. How Xavier fits into this is unclear, but he'll probably have some words of wisdom for his most troublesome recruit.
Logan opens on March 3rd 2017 with Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Eriq La Salle, and Elise Neal co-starring.
