For fans of Sofia Coppola it's been a long three years since her last feature, Bling Ring, and while we had A Very Murray Christmas to tide us over...let's face it, it's time for another movie. Fortunately, she's been putting together an impressive ensemble for a remake of Clint Eastwood's The Beguiled, and now as production kicks off the talent and sooner-than-expected release date have been confirmed.
Focus Features has announced the launch of production on the film, firming up a cast featuring Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Oona Laurence, Emma Howard, Angourie Rice and Addison Riecke. Yes, please. The film is set during the Civil War at The Miss Martha Farnsworth Seminary for Young Ladies, where the sheltered young women are tempted and led astray by a wounded Union soldier they have taken in.
The Beguiled has been set to open on June 23rd 2017, which isn't that far away at all. That's only a limited release, followed by an expansion one week later.
