Every year around this time I start looking ahead to Sundance and if, by some chance, Gareth Evans will surprise us with The Raid 3. But no, it's still a ways off as Evans has said before. In the meantime, he's decided on another movie to do in-between that sounds like it could be the perfect appetizer.
Evans will write and direct Apostle, about a man who goes to a remote island to rescue his kidnapped sister from a religious cult. When they demand a ransom, he's forced to do things the hard way, digging deeper into the commune's secrets.
I imagine there will be a few punches thrown, too. Let's hope so. Filming kicks off in the spring so keep this one on your radars. [THR]
