Dan Stevens Gears Up For Action In Gareth Evans' 'Apostle'

It's a good thing Dan Stevens is so damn talented because he's going to be hard to avoid over the next few months. The former Downton Abbey star will be seen opposite Emma Watson in Disney's Beauty and the Beast, alongside Anne Hathaway in Colossal, and has the title role in FX's anticipated X-Men spinoff series, Legion. And if that wasn't enough, he's now landed a role in Apostle, the eagerly-awaited new film from The Raid director, Gareth Evans.

News of the film only just broke out a few days ago so this is a quick and tremendously exciting move. The story centers on a man who journeys to a remote island to rescue his sister from a cult, only for things to go badly, forcing him to take matters into his own hands. Given Evans' skill for highly-stylized violence we can probably expect to see Stevens throw down big time. Outside of all his other work, Stevens is becoming a genre fan-favorite, thanks to his earlier work on The Guest. This will only make him more of a fixture.

Filming on Apostle begins in March. [Variety]
