Disney Is Trying Again On A Live-Action 'Snow White' Film
You might have read that headline and thought, "Wait, didn't we already get one of these?" Well, yeah, but not from Disney. A few years ago they tried to mount Order of the Seven starring Saoirse Ronan, however it was right around the time we had Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman trampling that ground pretty well. So Disney dropped that project and bided their time until now when the coast is clear.
Variety has the news, saying Disney is in talks with Erin Cressida Wilson (The Girl On the Train) to pen a live-action Snow White movie that will “expand upon the story and music” of the original animated movie they released in 1937. To aid in that effort La La Land duo of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will be crafting all-new songs, which could be amazing. And while we're on the subject of La La Land, what are the chances of Emma Stone as Snow White and Ryan Gosling as Prince Charming? Yes? No?
It's unclear if this film connects to the live-action Rose Red movie Disney announced a few months ago. That would be strange to have separate movies on Snow White and her sister without some overlap, right? Or perhaps this is replacing Rose Red and she can now become a supporting character in the more-popular sibling's movie?
