When people ask why it took so long to get a Wonder Woman movie, the answer actually stretches to the way the character is portrayed on the comics page. For decades she has been one of the most misused, mischaracterized, and mishandled characters in the DC Universe. While she was always considered one of the holy trinity alongside Batman and Superman, having a bunch of males write her for so long led to interpretations that were bizarre and less than flattering. It's hard to make a movie on Wonder Woman when nobody could figure out who Wonder Woman truly was.
So it's taken some time Warner Bros. thinks they've figured it out, and certainly the response to Gal Gadot's version of Wonder Woman was a highlight of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Will that carry over to her solo outing? The latest trailer keeps the emphasis on her butt-kicking prowess and the adventures she has during WWI. We also get some breath-taking shots of her idyllic island home of Themyscira with the other Amazons. Chris Pine, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Danny Huston, Ewen Bremner, Elena Anaya, Florence Kasumba, and Saïd Taghmaoui co-star.
