New Trailer For Star-Studded Animated Musical 'Sing' Takes The Stage
It's not unusual for any animated movie to have a star-studded voice cast. In fact it would be weird for one not to. But the cast of Illumination's musical Sing is incredible by any standard, and that it's from the same studio behind Despicable Me, Minions, and last summer's The Secret Life of Pets assures it will be one of the holiday season's biggest films.
To the tune of Eminem's "Sing for the Moment", which samples Aerosmith's "Dream On" (An interesting choice for a trailer, but whatever), the footage reveals a bit more of the story than we've seen and heard before. Matthew McConaughey voices a koala hoping to put on a huge singing competition to return his once-great theater to glory. Reese Witherspoon, Tori Kelly, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, John C. Reilly, Taron Egerton, Nick Kroll, Nick Offerman, Peter Serafinowicz, Leslie Jones, Jay Pharoah, Jennifer Hudson, Jennifer Saunders, and more lend their voices. More like directors Edgar Wright, Wes Anderson, and Despicable Me's Chris Renaud are part of the cast, too, although which animal characters they're voicing is unclear.
Sing opens on December 21st just as the glut of Oscar dramas arrives. So don't be surprised if it manages to outdo all of them as there aren't a ton of family-friendly comedies left through the year's end.
