Who says you can't go home again? Twenty years after Danny Boyle's Trainspotting launched the careers of Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle, Jonny Lee Miller, and Ewen Bremner the gang is getting back together again for T2: Trainspotting, and judging by the looks of the new trailer not much has changed other than their ages.
The film sees the reunion of Renton, Spud, Begbie, and Renton as they deal with problems that look like the same ones they dealt with in 1996, only framed in a modern context. For instance, the iconic "Choose Life" monologue also includes things such as choosing Facebook, Twitter, and more. As for the plot, it's still a little unclear but the gang supposedly finds their way into the world of pornography somehow. That should be interesting, especially in the hands of boundary-pushing writer Irvine Welsh. Here's the official synopsis:
First there was an opportunity……then there was a betrayal.
Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home.
They are waiting for him: Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle).
Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.
T2: Trainspotting gets a limited open on February 3rd 2017 before expanding a week later.
