Without ever seeing a second of it Renegades has all of the pieces to be a true guy flick. First of all, it's about a bunch of Navy Seals in 1995 Sarajevo who are on the hunt for $300M in lost Nazi gold. Whoa. The film features an original script by Richard Wenk, who wrote The Equalizer and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, and Luc Besson who gave us Jason Statham, Jean Reno, and half of all the hit-man movies that are worth a damn. Finally, it stars Oscar winner J.K. Simmons alongside Animal Kingdom and 300: Rise of an Empire star Sullivan Stapleton. Here comes the testosterone.
While Steven Quale (Into the Storm) is behind the camera, this looks like a Besson effort all of the way with cheesy one-liners and tough-guy talk, explosions, and dudes getting punched in the face. This actually looks like a lot of fun.
