Rooney Mara And Jonah Hill Join Joaquin Phoenix In Gus Van Sant's John Callahan Biopic
It's always great when two actors find one another. Not in a relationship sort of way, but in a "We work really well together" kind of way. And that seems to be the case with Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara, who were great together in Spike Jonze's Her, and are currently shooting Biblical film Mary Magdalene. Now they're back at it again as part of Gus Van Sant's John Callahan biopic, Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot.
Mara, along with recent Golden Globes nominee Jonah Hill, are joining Phoenix in the film about cartoonist John Callahan, who was paralyzed at the age of 21 and turned to cartooning to cope. His work touched on taboo topics and was as acclaimed as it was controversial, appearing in the pages of the New Yorker and Playboy. So far we don't know what Mara and Hill will be doing but one can't complain about the cast Van Sant has put together.
No word on when shooting starts but it could be a while as everybody involved has stuff going on. Hill has another biopic, The Ballad of Richard Jewell, while Mara is shooting Brady Corbet's next film. In the meantime hopefully Van Sant will think about changing that title. [Variety]
