Soldiers Battle The Paranormal In First Trailer For 'Spectral'
The first we heard of Spectral was a few years ago when once-hot commercials director Nic Mathieu (He had been attached to Robotech at one point) was brought on for the Universal/Legendary action flick. From the start it sounded like a fun concept with shades of Battle: Los Angeles or Black Hawk Down written all over it. While there were no huge stars, the cast of supporting players was strong with James Badge Dale, Emily Mortimer, Cory Hardrict, Max Martini, Bruce Greenwood, and Clayne Crawford starring. And now finally the film is debuting, except on Netflix....so what the heck happened?
The first trailer doesn't give us any real indication for the lack of faith Universal seems to have in it. They didn't even bother to put out a poster or anything, and that's with the release only a week away. Not good. Anyway, this looks like it should still be fun. Co-written by George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau), John Gatins (Kong: Skull Island), and Ian Fried, the film finds a Special Ops unit teaming with an engineer to battle supernatural beings that are wreaking havoc across a European city.
Spectral hits Netflix on December 9th.
