There was a stretch of time when it didn't look like an adaptation of Stephen King's epic tome The Dark Tower was going to happen, but this summer the film finally arrives. But before that we have a pair of teasers dropped by Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba, who play the Man in Black and the gunslinger Roland Deschain respectively. They'll help get you primed for the first full trailer arriving later today.
Directed by Nikolaj Arcel with Jake Chambers, Katheryn Winnick, and Jackie Earle Haley co-starring, the story centers on a fierce battle between good and a terrible evil. Here's the synopsis:
Jake, who is still reeling over the death of his hero dad, a first responder on 9/11 who succumbed to toxic exposure, has a series of terrifying and apocalyptic visions that have made him doubt his own sanity. But when Jake narrowly avoids being abducted by terrifying creatures in human form, he escapes into another world. In this strange new reality, Jake teams with weary and disillusioned hero, Roland Deschain, a knight-like warrior bent solely on avenging himself against his age-old nemesis.
The Dark Tower opens August 4th.
