Robert Pattinson Joins Martin Scorsese & Joanna Hogg For 'The Souvenir'

Even if your average filmgoer still thinks of Robert Pattinson as little more than that guy from the Twilight movies, some of Hollywood's greatest filmmakers have been eager to work with him. Over the last few years he has completely changed his career and become a great actor in movies that you'd be wise to seek out, like his recent turn in The Lost City of Z.

Now Pattinson is set to work with the great Martin Scorsese and British director Joanna Hogg on The Souvenir. The two-part romantic mystery will boast Scorsese as an exec-producer, with  Ariane Labed (The Lobster), Tom Burke (Only God Forgives) and Richard Ayoade (The Double) co-starring alongside Pattinson. Here is the synopsis:

Spanning the decade of the 1980s, the film will chart the story of a young film student, involved in her first serious love affair, who tries to disentangle fact from fiction in a relationship with a complicated and untrustworthy man.

Hogg has worked with Tom Hiddleston on her last three films, including 2013's Exhibition, and I wonder if perhaps Pattinson was her second choice here. Or maybe there's still room for Hiddleston to slide in for a supporting role? Whatever the case, this is another feather in Pattinson's cap and hopefully he'll start getting more attention for it soon. [ScreenDaily]
