Joel Kinnaman Says 'Suicide Squad 2' May Shoot Next Year

Warner Bros. has been scrambling to get another film ready to go for next year, and one of those they were hopeful of is Suicide Squad 2. To that end we've seen a number of directors approached for the job, such as Jaume Collet-Serra and Mel Gibson, the latter seeming less likely by the day. And now if the latest comments by Rick Flag himself, Joel Kinnaman, are true then it's a certainty we won't see the sequel until 2019 at the earliest. He tells THR...

“As far as I know they’re writing the script and I think the plan is to shoot it sometime in 2018, but that could change. I think I’ll definitely come back for it."

Kinnaman also has a preference for who he'd like to see direct it, and unsurprisingly it's for David Ayer to return. Doubtful since Ayer is busy on a Scarface remake, and then the DC Films spinoff Gotham City Sirens, but Kinnaman would like to see it happen, anyway...

“Ultimately, I’d love for David Ayer to direct it, but if he doesn’t want to direct it then someone who is great with character and that’s able to ground the story and maybe put these characters in a more normal situation. It would be really interesting to see these crazy characters interact with regular people as well."

Any ideas? Who would you like to see direct Suicide Squad 2?
