Disney has a year and a half until Rob Marshall's Mary Poppins Returns floats into theaters carrying an umbrella, and already we're being treated to teaser images for it. Why not in the dead of summer with a million other movies, some of them by Disney, to pay attention to? Whatever, take a gander at Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and the rest of the cast in new images dropped by EW.
In what has been called a "straight up sequel" by Miranda, the film now takes place in 1935 London during their Great Depression. The home on Cherry Lane we're all familiar with is now in foreclosure as the grown-up Jane and Michael Banks cope with a tragedy. Good thing they have a magical nanny who can show up and spread some good cheer. Ben Whishaw (in an unfortunate 'stache), Emily Mortimer, somebody named Meryl Streep, and Julie Walters co-star, along with appearances by Dick Van Dyke, Colin Firth, and Angela Lansbury.
Mary Poppins Returns opens next year on Christmas Day.
