They say there are no original stories anymore, and maybe that's true. But there are original directors, and the right filmmaker can make even a worn out premise feel fresh. That's the vibe I'm getting from every thing we've seen of Edgar Wright's Baby Driver, a story we've seen hundreds of times before, but with the director's signature style so that it becomes something new.
Bursting with energy and a pulsing soundtrack, the heist film stars Ansel Elgort as Baby, the best getaway driver around who gets involved with some bad folks. When a job goes wrong everybody he cares for is in peril, and Baby must use his skills and personal soundtrack to secure their safety. Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Lily James, Jon Bernthal, Jon Hamm, and Eiza Gonzalez play the colorful characters in Baby's life.
Baby Driver opens June 28th.
