As we're fully into a new wave of indie horrors, we're also seeing the genre as a launching pad for some of Hollywood's rising stars: Maika Monroe from It Follows, Ana Lily Amirpour for A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, Jordan Peele for Get Out, and certainly Anya Taylor-Joy makes the list for her incredible breakthrough performance in The Witch. She's moved on to bigger projects, such as M. Night Shyamalan's Split and the upcoming New Mutants, but it's good news to learn she'll be reteaming with The Witch director Robert Eggers for his next film.
More good news? That film is a remake of F.W. Mernau's classic 1922 horror, Nosferatu, which was then remade expertly by Werner Herzog in 1979. My fondest recollection of it is actually 2000's Shadow of the Vampire, which features Willem Dafoe in a truly amazing performance (should've won the Oscar for it) as Max Shreck, the obscure German actor hired to play Nosferatu's lead character, Count Orlok. It's not explicitly stated by Variety, but Taylor-Joy will likely play Ellen, the object of Orlok's obsession as he attempts to move from Transylvania to Germany.
No word on filming but it'll probably come after she shoots Glass, Shyamalan's Split/Unbreakble crossover movie.
