After years of crafting spitfire dialogue for everything from The West Wing to The Social Network to Steve Jobs, Aaron Sorkin has set out on his directorial debut. Molly's Game stars Jessica Chastain as Molly Bloom, a 26-year-old Olympic-class skier who ended up running the most exclusive, high-profile poker game in the country. And the story of how she did it, and how she fell from grace, is what some are already pegging as one of this year's major Oscar contenders.
With the full trailer arriving tomorrow, today sees the debut of a 30-second teaser that features Chastain, Idris Elba as her lawyer, and Michael Cera as a celebrity gambler. It's just a small part of a star-studded cast Sorkin has put together, which shouldn't come as a surprise. Chris O'Dowd, Brian d'Arcy James, Jeremy Strong, and more co-star.
Molly's Game opens November 22nd.
