Gillian Jacobs Eyes 'A Beautiful Game', Nick Jonas Joins 'Chaos Walking', And More
If Gillian Jacobs is in it, I'm there to see it. The Tracking Board reports the Love and Don't Think Twice star is in talks for A Beautiful Game. Morgan Neville, who directed hit documentary 20 Feet from Stardom, will be making his feature debut. The story, penned by Casual creator Zander Lehmann, is described as "a coming-of-age story about a high school soccer star who develops a relationship with a teacher (Jacobs) in the days leading up to an important game." Jacobs will be seen next in the bizarre comedy, Lemon, alongside Brett Gelman, Michael Cera, Judy Greer, and Nia Long.
Nick Jonas will follow Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle with a role in Doug Liman's YA adaptation, Chaos Walking. Joining him, surprisingly, is Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter. Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley lead the film which also includes Oscar nominee Demian Bichir. The story takes place in a world infected by a virus that makes every single thought loud and clear for all to hear, with the exception of one mysterious girl who can shut it out. Chaos Walking opens March 1st 2019. [Deadline]
Here's a duo I'll watch in pretty much anything. Anna Paquin and the underrated Holliday Grainger (My Cousin Rachel) will star in an adaptation of Fiona Shaw's book, Tell It To The Bees. The film will be directed by Annabel Jankel, best known as one of the co-creators of Max Headroom. This isn't a return of the late '80s talking head, but a 1950s British romance about a small town schoolteacher and the mother of a student who begin a forbidden relationship. [Deadline]
