Martin Lawrence No Longer Thinks 'Bad Boys 3' Will Happen
If Bad Boys 3 had a champion, even when it didn't seem likely to happen, it was Martin Lawrence. He has long petitioned for a reunion with Will Smith for a sequel, and eventually he got his wish when Bad Boys For Life was put on Sony's schedule. But since then it has been one disappointment after another. The film lost its director when Joe Carnahan dropped out, and then its release has been pushed along until finally it was removed altogether. Now, Lawrence isn't feeling so confident.
Speaking with EW, Lawrence says he thinks Bad Boys 3 is a longshot to happen...
“I don’t think we’re going to get one, not the way everything’s turning out. Will is off doing another movie, and I don’t think it’s going to happen.”
Smith was recently cast as the Genie in Disney's live-action Aladdin. He also has Netflix's Bright coming up, and eventually a return for Suicide Squad 2, so trying to find a time that suits his busy schedule is tough.
Of course, Lawrence is "ready right now" if the studio comes calling, but he probably shouldn't wait by the phone.
