Nicole Kidman May Be A 'Destroyer' For Director Karyn Kusama
This is shaping up to be the biggest year in Nicole Kidman's career. On the small screen she's won rave reviews for her performance in Big Little Lies, and she has Jane Campion's Top of the Lake: China Girl coming up. On the big screen she's already worked with Sofia Coppola on The Beguiled, and later she has Yorgos Lanthimos' The Killing of a Sacred Deer and John Cameron Mitchell's How to Talk to Girls at Parties. Wow. So what's next?
Well, next would be working with Karyn Kusama (The Invitation, Aeon Flux) on crime film, Destroyer. Details are slim and Kidman's deal isn't locked yet, but we know Kusama will be teaming up once again with The Invitation writers Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay. As for the plot, Kusama described it to The Guardian as “personal epic — a beautiful character study of an incredible female that we haven’t seen in this genre before. Okay, count me in.
No word on when this will shoot, but since Kusama has been chatting about the project for some time I expect it'll be soon after Kidman's deal closes. As for Kidman, she has been busy shooting her role as Atlanna in Aquaman. [TheTrackingBoard]
