NEW THIS WEEK
Snatched stars cross-generational
comedy icons Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer as a mother and daughter on an exotic
South African vacation. Schumer plays a woman recently dumped by her boyfriend
and on a hunt for excitement to help move past it. Her short sited adventuring
soon leads to trouble, as she manages to get both her and her mother kidnapped.
We Said: “If you enjoy Snatched
at all it will be for one of two reasons, possibly both: you either really like
Amy Schumer and her brand of comedy, or...well, okay that's the only reason.
[…] You wish [Schumer and Hawn] had better material to work with, but they make
the best of it and find warmth and heart in some unexpected places.” Rating: 3 out of 5
Visionary
director Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur reboot stars Charlie Hunnam as the legendary
warrior, destined for greatness. When his ruthless uncle (Jude Law) seizes the
thrown that’s rightfully his, Arthur goes on quest to gain back power and save
his would be subjects with the aid of his legendary sword.
We Said: “The benefit of low
expectations is that sometimes you are pleasantly surprised. […] If you know [Director Guy] Ritchie and his
signature speed-ramping, hard-knuckle style, then you definitely know this
movie.” Rating: 3 out of 5
This
WWII set period piece follows a German spy (Jai Courtney) on a mission to
investigate the exiled former Kaiser Wilhelm II (Oscar winner Christopher
Plummer). His mission grows even more complicated when he falls in love with the
Kaiser’s maid (Lily James) who he suspects might be an undercover assassin.
We Said: “Overall, I did
rather enjoy the film. Although it takes off on an incredibly rocky start, The
Exception definitely picks up speed as it keeps going, and becomes a
pretty engaging costume drama romance by its end.” Rating: 3 out of 5
